CHAPTER 35: THE WEEKLY KITCHEN SERVICE concluded
ONE hour before the time for a meal the weekly servers may each take some wine and bread over and above the regular allowance, so that when the mealtime comes they may serve their brethren without grumbling or hardship; but on solemn days they are to wait until after Mass.
On Sunday, as soon as the Morning Office is finished both the incoming and outgoing servers are to cast themselves at the feet of all in the oratory, begging their prayers. The server ending his week says: ‘Blessed art Thou, Lord God, who hast helped me and comforted me’ (Ps. 85). When this has been said three times he receives his blessing and retires; then the incoming server follows and says; ‘O God, come to my assistance, O Lord, make haste to help me’ (Ps. 69). When this has been repeated three times by all, he receives his blessing and enters on his week of service.
