CHAPTER 69: MONKS SHOULD NOT PRESUME TO DEFEND ONE ANOTHER
MONKS must be on their guard not to take it on themselves to defend another monk in the monastery whatever happens, or to be his protector so to speak, even though united by the closest ties of blood. Monks must not presume to do any such thing, for it can lead to very serious scandals. If anyone infringes this rule, he must be sharply reprimanded.
