Justice & Peace

Justice & Peace

Even though one well-known Benedictine motto is PAX, it is also true that we, at Ealing Abbey, have not yet given much attention to justice, peace and reconciliation work.
Trying always to live more like Christ, we could do more to pray for and support ministries in many areas where there is a need for justice, peace and reconciliation.
St Benedict’s Parish, Ealing has an active and growing J&P group with a website here:

Justice & Peace: Restorative Justice

Mark Woodruff considers that manyimages Catholics are involved in areas of  peace, social justice and development in Churches Together in England, and writes,
“Restorative Justice, profoundly Christian in origin in terms of redemption, restoration, forgiveness, is strongly populated with splendid organisations: ‘Why Me? Trust‘, ‘Restorative Solutions‘, ‘Forgiveness Project‘ … .
The evidence is that the more serious and even violent the crime, indeed this is no less true of crimes of sexual violence (rape – not abuse of power through sex), the more effective and deep-going RJ is.”

As well as working for Restorative Justice (RJ), we can live with respect for all and also be advocates for ones alienated from society or the church. Victims of Abuse – Ones in need of reconciliation – Ones disenfranchised and marginalised by:
