Easter for Christians is a 50 day (a week of weeks) season beginning on Easter Sunday (1 April 2018) and ending on Pentecost Sunday (May 20) marked by confidence, reassurance, gratitude and love expressed in our worship and our lives.
Pentecost comes from a Jewish harvest festival called Shavuot. The apostles were celebrating this festival when the Holy Spirit descended on them. It sounded like a very strong wind, and it looked like tongues of fire.
