Dom Ambrose McCambridge

Dominic McCambridge was born in 1973 and was brought up in Dublin.

Dom Ambrose writes

“I attended St Mary’s College, Rathmines, Dublin 6 and pursued a BA in Philosophical & Theological Studies, Milltown Institute of Philosophy and Theology, and H.Dip Ed at UCD.

In 2002 I came to the UK to work in the Social Care Sector in North West London (Wembey Park area). I gained first an MA in Psychology and Religion and then an MA in Biblical Studies at Heythrop College, London University.

In August 2008 while studying at Heythrop College, I gave a paper, “Spiritual but not religious: an historical and psychological approach to the phenomenon” at the International Conference of Psychology of Religion – Vienna, Austria. I gave the same paper in 2009 at “Alternative spiritualities, the New Age and New Religious Movements in Ireland“, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, from 30-31 October 2009. I joined Ealing Abbey in 2010.”

One of his friends is abbot of Holy Cross Abbey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary

Dom Ambrose’s public ministry to 2014

Dom Ambrose worked for some years in the Sacristy since his arrival on 2 February 2010. He taught for a period in St Benedict’s School and has been Master of ceremonies for community celebrations since 1 October 2012. Simple profession followed on 20 August 2011, solemn profession in 14 June 2014 and presbyteral ordination on 4 July 2015.
Abbot Martin appointed him acting parish priest in March 2017 to give himself a sabattical and officially parish priest in September 2017.

Dom Ambrose’s service to the community

Dom Ambrose is a regular cantor at the Liturgy of the Hours and he is an accomplished organist. He serves on the community council and also works in Human Resources and Special Needs with our employed staff.
